I am a composer, installation artist, and performer based in Houston, Texas. My works often allow for the performer or audience to gain agency over their experience of the work. Memory, community, and nature are common subjects of my work.

I am also interested in experimenting with new ways to incorporate interactive technology into sound and visuals. Projects that engage with these ideas include work with performer-computer improvisation systems (Artificial spring and future projects), and an interactive sound installation (Each step) in which participants explore a space where their movement has an effect on processes that generate the sound in the space. This sound installation was recreated at the 2019 International Computer Music Conference, where the work won the award for 'best student submission.'

The most rewarding projects I've been involved with are those that interact with and create community. In spring of 2021 I worked with the Make-a-Wish Foundation and Da Camera of Houston to create a new wind quintet for performance by a local Make-a-Wish recipient. The young bassoonist performed the work with the Monarch Chamber Players at Discovery Green in downtown Houston. Another memorable public project was assisting Houston artist Allison Hunter in creating an outdoor 3-channel video and sound installation and performance in Sesquicentennial Park in downtown Houston (Flow). I contributed to this project by creating 20+ minutes of music for voice and electronics for performance by Houston Grand Opera vocalist Katie Loff. Looking to the future, in May of 2021 I will be curating a program of Houston-based performers and creators for a interdisciplinary event at the Blaffer gallery at the University of Houston under the theme "A Time for Action". I hope to continue involving my work with the community; another long-term future goal is to create a community improvisation system that records data and sound clips of entire communities of improvisers and creates more sound based on the data and sound collected by the system.

Currently, I am a DMA student at Rice University where I have studied with Kurt Stallmann, Richard Lavenda, and Karim Al-Zand. Prior to attending Rice, I taught composition, music theory, and aural skills at West Virginia University for the academic year 2017-2018. I will teach electronic music and composition there in 2021-22. My master's institution was Bowling Green State University, where I studied with Marilyn Shrude, Christopher Dietz, and Mikel Kuehn. My undergraduate study in composition and piano performance was completed at West Virginia University under John Beall and David Taddie. As a pianist, I have premiered several of my own works as well as the works of other composers.
